Dyson DC15 Animal Cyclone Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

(More customer reviews)I have a Katrina survivor dog that I adopted that can simply be described as a "hair machine."Minutes after vacuuming with my old vac, I'd still see "hair tumbleweeds" here and there.I knew I had to do something, so I ordered the Dyson DC-15.It arrived one day before I arrived at home, and my wife opened it and used it."That new vacuum is amazing!," she said.I figured "amazing" meant "better than the old one."I took it into a carpeted room that she hadn't vacuumed yet, turned it on, and watched in amazement when after about 3 linear feet of movement produced a swirling hairball in the collector.At first I thought it must be residual hair from where she had used it earlier.This was NOT a section of the floor where I could even SEE any hair.The floor looked relatively clean when I started.So, I emptied the collector and started over.Same thing.Incredible!And not just hair, but dirt!

After about 3 weeks with this "Animal," I'm sold.Easy to empty, and every day it does it's thing -- never ceasing to amaze me.I use it daily, and the entire house smells cleaner than it did.

The attachments are nice -- I don't use the mini-turbine head, although I may later.The extension wand makes it easy to get under furniture with as little as 2" clearance (maybe even less).I have a kitchen island that weighs about 400 pounds that I used to have to move to clean underneath (it's on rollers).Now I just vacuum under it.The cool thing about the tools is that everything you need is on the vacuum... including the hose -- but unlike a lot of vacs (like my old Electrolux), you don't have to stop the vac, pull out a hose, attach it to the machine, and revert to upright later.The hose is already attached.You just pull the wand up, press a button, and you've got all you need to get under furniture.This part of the machine is truly a clever design.

This thing has tons of suction, too.Very impressive!

Here are the "cons" to the unit:
1) The hard plastic used on the collector seems like it might be easily broken -- although this hasn't happened yet.I'm not thinking "shatter" here, more like the latch might break.The jury's still out on this one.

2) The manual could have been better.I read.I don't appreciate the "diagram-only" approach to some of the instructions.

That's it, though... and the second one is minor.

Everything else is a "go" on this machine.Get one and you'll see what I mean.

Another thing... some of the reviews I've read complain about the "high pitched whine" or the color of the machine.The machine is pretty quiet.Much quieter than my old Electrolux, but it is A POWERFUL VACUUM and therefore will sound like a vacuum cleaner running!;)And the color?Where do you keep this thing, in a display case?My advice?If you don't like the color, take it to a body shop and let 'em paint it for you -- but don't let the color cause you to miss what I consider to be one of the best deals going in the vacuum cleaner market.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this through Amazon a year ago.Prior to this, I have owned several Shop Vac brand vacuums, the last being their stainless steel version that I paid about $200 for.It did the job but after a few years, the wheels broke and I wasn't able to find replacements.I struggled along since the vacuum did work.It was noisy to boot.I have always regretted "cheaping out" on tools, and when I buy a quality tool, after the initial pain of higher cost, I never regret owning one.There is something about them; they have a certain feel in your hands, their performance is exceptional, they last and are a joy to use. My first router was a Sears $49 special.The machining was crude, no joy there.When that one died, I bought a Porter Cable 690 router which I still have and use.It is one of those tools that is a pleasure to own and use, but I degress.

If you have read this far, this Milwaukee Vacuum is such a quality tool.The price is indeed painful.The total cost currently is $702 but this doesn't include the wet/dry cleaning kit( Milwaukee part number 49-90-1670 ) which includes the hose and attachments.If I had any beef it is that every vacuum needs a hose and attachments, so why aren't they included?I suspect it is because of the price. Amazon carries the combo deal of vacuum and wet/dry attachments for a total of $914 as of this writing.

After having this vacuum for a year, it has done a fabulous job.The tools, although pricy, are beautifully made. The floor vacuum attachment is very heavy and looks to be made of cast aluminum.The hose is excellent quality as well.It is heavy duty, unlike the hose that came with my Shop Vac which collapsed readily.The vacuum itself is very stable, has separate filtration unit to change to when doing wet work, and is beautifully made.I am not an electrical engineer, but this unit, I believe, has an induction style of motor instead of the typical, cheap universal motor found on most vacuums.Induction = quiet, durable.Universal motors are loud and have a relatively short motor life. All in all, this is a great unit, still made in the U.S. and will be something one of your relatives will inherit. My only concern is that Milwaukee has been taken over by a Taiwanese corporation and the decline in tool quality is already apparent.Their power hand tools are not what they were and are now imported.As a disclaimer, I don't work for Milwaukee, but just love this vacuum.Buy one before the new owners "cheap it out" and you won't ever regret it.To save yourself some money, when you go to Amazon checkout, get the super saver shipping ( the free shipping ).Yes, it will take a few more days for it to arrive, but you will save yourself about $50 in shipping charges.

After using it a few times I realized maybe I should have spent a few more dollars to get extra features, but this vacuum is great!The only thing I would have spent more for was the ability to turn off the roller when using the hose & attachments because the roller stays on which I've compensated for by lying the vacuum down while using them (also to vacuum the areas of my house without carpet).Other than that, no complaints

I, like Sandra L. Houtz, saw this brand for the first time at a local vacuum dealer.I was impressed by how easily it picked up pet hair and by how much cheaper it was than the other "high-end" vacuums such as Riccar.I have a cat and a dog.The cat has fine hair (of course), while my dog has thick hair.This vacuum has no problems picking up any of the hair as well as the bits of kitty litter lying around.

The vacuum is simple, yet effective.I'm glad I bought it.The cord is long, the construction is sturdy, and the roller is metal.

SHARK Vac Then Steam Mop Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this to keep my hardwood floors clean in a older house (floors >40 years old).I have animals and keep a pretty tidy place.I was going through quite a bit of conventional liquid based products (Murphy's, Bruce Hardwood Cleaner) and was trying to reduce costs (I'm an accountant, so there!).The device vacuums quite well despite the other review on here.... It is designed for hard surfaces only and if you had A LOT of debris on the floor, use a normal vacuum first (which throws around quite a bit of debris).As for the steam cleaning, it is a little lacking.It seems to work in fits and starts.During the times that it seems to build pressure and put out quite a bit of steam, it seems to work well and the cleaning pad gets quite hot.But you have to stop frequently in order for it to get to the high steam times (annoying and really slows things down).

If the product maintained a high level of constant steam and included a larger water reservoir, I would rate this a 5 star. And considering I dropped 150 for this, I really want it to work!But with this oversight in the design, I have to give it a 3.I'm not for sure if I have a bad model or not, but it reduces it's usefulness.It does help for the quick sweep/cleaning that I do to pick up the dog hair.

It would also be nice if you could add a couple of drops of scent (lemon, pine, etc.) to the reservoir.

(More customer reviews)i bought this item at a Best Buy and it seemed nice with the swivel features and the cool colors. so i brought it home and let in charge for a day (after i assembled it). i tried it out. i love the removable mini vacuum. but the battery only lasts for about 15 minutes. and its contents fall out once you've finished vacuuming, which is quite unfunctional. i like this vacuum otherwise, but i decided to return it. :( hope this helped some of you decide.

Bissell 1867 Steam Mop Bare Floor Steam Cleaner Review

(More customer reviews)I admit it I finally bought something because I saw it on an infomercial and all I can say is that I am very impressed!! I have 2 dogs, a husband that works in the oilfield, me the messy cook, and I live in sandy red dirt west Texas. This thing can really handle it all.I also like how the mop pad also goes over my 1/4 round on the baseboards and gets them too.In addition I love that I don't have to immediatly leave the area after I have mopped because the fumes from the chemicals are so strong... as my experience was when I tried the swiffer wetjet. I had debated as to whether to get this with the Bissell CatchAll or to get the Hoover Floormate and so far I am very happy with th choice I have made.
One hint I found out when using this product that is not mentioned in the instructions is that it works best when you pull it backwards instead of forwards.( like I do when using my hoover steamvac widepath) I noticed when I was pushing forwards all the steam seamed to be coming out the back of the mop head and when I pulled it backwards all the steam went apparantly on the floor because I barely saw it coming out but I could certainly see the difference. After using this product I really can say that my floor is clean. not only does it look clean , but I know that the steam is killing bacteria and I can believe it or not , breathe better. I dont know if this is because it is like being around a vaporizer or because it is killing bacteria and dustmites but it does.
WHen all of these new and improved moppping gadgets hit the market I had been hopfull because hey, I admit I hate mopping. After mopping while the floor was still wet it never failed that either my dogs or my husband when just walk on it and get it dirty again.So I tried the swiffer wetjet and was not impressed because of the strong smell of the cleaner, having to buy cleaner and pads all the time, did not get ground in stuff very well, and Knowing that I was only degreasing and not disinfecting the floor. This steam mop is cost effeciant because I don't have to keep buying cleaner or pads. It is reccomened to use distilled water to maximize the use of the water filter but 1$ /gallon compared to $3/liter isn't bad and I may end up getting one of those pur things to not have to do even that. I honestly recommend this product and hope that this may help someone considering buying it!

We found the Miele to be well designed and easy to use.Unfortunately by the mid third year parts started to break and fall off of it. Furthermore, while adequately powerful at the start, it lost its vacuuming power over time.After five years of use I am looking for a replacement.\

Miele asks the consumer to pay a premium (we paid $375).However, given the poor durability I would recommend consumers to look elsewhere for a vacuum.

Shark Vx3 Floor & Carpet Sweeper - V1950 - Factory Serviced Review

(More customer reviews)The people at Shark and Euro-Pro cleaning companies have always known how to make so many great products with vacuums, and carpet sweepers. Nevertheless, when it comes down to it, it really is on how well the vacuum really lasts. Shark's previous cordless sweepers have all done a great job at picking up after everyday messes, but they have been some glitches. I was honestly very skeptical with the latest model when I saw it on television, and I liked it a lot, but as I started to use it, I was hoping for just a bit more. Here is my verdict.

The Shark VX3 Cordless Sweeper is the latest in Euro-Pro's well-recieved carpet sweeper line. This one does a good job at picking up after pet hair and fuzz, and is very simple to setup. You can pick up actually a lot of pet hair, fuzz, or anything off your floors and carpets. It is easy to charge up, and does really works well. The no-mess dust cup is very simple to clean up, and easily removes all that was picked up from the floors. The vacuum is also very easy to carry around, and take from room to room, without feeling the drag of carrying around your vacuum and getting a backache.

That is what I think, even though there really are a few problems that still make could've been a bit easier to pick up after. The first problem deals with the battery. ou have to really keep the sweeper plugged in to your outelt for at least a day, inorder to fully charge a the battery. The VX3's battery also could've had a bit stronger battery life than just an hour long. The second problem deals with the backsaver feature. While the VX3 does pick up well, and is easy to operate, I had a tricky time manuvering the VX3 with the backsaver handle.
